Heron writes about this upcoming full moon with a suggested “working with Demeter for a rite of compassionate nourishment” on her Substack:

This lunation carries an additional dimension: the Full Moon eclipse in Virgo closes the gateway that opened at the Aquarius solar eclipse. Aquarius cracked open the sky-mind. Hopefully, a new vision blew the cobwebs from your third eye, and messages screamed in like a cosmic alarm clock. I felt that familiar sensation of being handed a bright idea that refuses to stay theoretical. My air-heavy natal chart loves a revelation, but my Pisces Sun, with Virgo Moon and Rising, loves a practice to keep those ideas grounded in real life. Perhaps the question for this lunation is: What do you do now with what you saw then?

The goddesses guiding this path are Demeter and Hekate: grain-mother and torchbearer. These goddesses worked together to find Persephone after her abduction by Hades. Every year, when the sun’s arc softens the edge of winter and light finally stands in perfect balance with night, witches and pagans across the Northern Hemisphere gather for the Spring Equinox—Ostara. Friday, March 20, 2026, is when the sun enters Aries at 10:46 am, Eastern Time Zone. I recommend weekend celebrations anytime March 20-22, 2026.

Though many of our symbols look fresh and innocent—eggs, rabbits, blossoms, bees, dawn—this “lesser sabbat” has a lot of juicy meaning to offer. It is one of the more complex celebrations in the cycle of the year. Ostara is the hinge on which the entire turning of the Great Wheel swings from darkness into light.

Like Yule, what we inherit at Ostara is a weaving of many threads: Germanic folklore of Eostre, Mediterranean spring mysteries, agricultural customs, folk Catholic survivals, Victorian spring iconography, and modern Wiccan and neopagan reinterpretations. ❄️ Stay warm this weekend Sojourners! Looks like dangerous winter conditions will begin Saturday Afternoon in eastern nc. The Sojo will not be open whenever there is any freezing rain or snow. We stay closed as long as Pitt county schools are closed.

If you need anything from us before the storm, be sure to stop by before we close Friday at 6:00, as we’ll decide then when we will close on Saturday (or not open at all) thru whenever roads are safe to drive again. To be cautious, I’m canceling the Sunday bone casting readings with Coffee with the Ancestors (with Daphne). Sorry folks…. Catch Daphne again in 2 weeks instead.

Imbolc 🕯️

Sojo Solstice Sunday

Come spend some cozy shopping time at The Sojourner this Sunday, December 21st, for the Winter Solstice. Heron is brewing up a crock of hot mulled Wassail to share, and offering Tarot card readings from 1:00-6:00. Readings are $15 for 3 cards, $30 for 6, and $50 for a 10 card reading. It’s an auspicious time for a reading to clarify what our journey through the winter season holds.
